Muzaffarnagar to Haridwar by taxi: a perfect day trip to Har Ki Pauri

For many families in Muzaffarnagar, Haridwar is not really a "trip" — it is a ritual. A dip at Har Ki Pauri after a wedding, a havan for a new home, asthi visarjan, or simply an evening at the Ganga Aarti. At about 90 km away, it is close enough for a relaxed day out and back home by night.

Distance and route

Haridwar is about 90 km from Muzaffarnagar. The cab goes north on the highway through Purkazi, crosses into Uttarakhand, passes Roorkee, and reaches Haridwar in roughly 2 hours. The road is good for most of the way; the slow part is usually entering Haridwar city itself.

A simple one-day plan

The aarti time shifts with sunset — earlier in winter, later in summer — so check on the day. Reach the ghat 45 minutes early to find a good spot.

Parking and the last few hundred metres

Cars cannot drive right up to Har Ki Pauri. Your driver will drop you at the nearest permitted point or parking and wait there. Wear comfortable footwear you can slip off easily — you will walk through the market lanes and leave shoes at the ghat stands.

Festival days and Kanwar season

• Snan days like Somvati Amavasya, Kartik Purnima and Makar Sankranti bring huge crowds. Leave by 5 am and expect police barricades near the ghats.
