Weekend trips from Muzaffarnagar by taxi: Rishikesh, Mussoorie and Dehradun
Three easy weekend getaways from Muzaffarnagar — riverside Rishikesh, the hill station of Mussoorie and green Dehradun — with distances, a two-day plan for each and round-trip cab fares.
One of the best things about living in Muzaffarnagar is how quickly you can reach the hills and the Ganga. In two to four hours you can be by the river in Rishikesh or on Mall Road in Mussoorie. Here are three weekend trips that work well by cab.
1. Rishikesh — the river weekend
Distance: about 115 km, under 3 hours via Roorkee and Haridwar.
Two-day plan
- Day 1: leave early, stop at Haridwar for a morning dip, reach Rishikesh by noon. Walk the Ram Jhula area in the afternoon; evening aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan.
- Day 2: rafting from Shivpuri in the morning (outside the monsoon months), lunch at a riverside café, drive home by evening.
Round-trip fare: about ₹2,070 (WagonR), ₹2,760 (Dzire), ₹3,680 (Ertiga), ₹4,600 (Innova Crysta) for roughly 230 km. See the Rishikesh route page.
2. Mussoorie — the hill-station weekend
Distance: about 165 km, around 4 hours via Roorkee and Dehradun.
Two-day plan
- Day 1: leave Muzaffarnagar by 6 am to beat the Dehradun–Mussoorie weekend traffic. Check in, then walk Mall Road from Library Chowk to Picture Palace. Sunset from Gun Hill.
- Day 2: quiet morning walk in Landour, Kempty Falls on the way down if the weather is clear, back home by night.
Round-trip fare: about ₹2,970 (WagonR), ₹3,960 (Dzire), ₹5,280 (Ertiga), ₹6,600 (Innova Crysta) for roughly 330 km. For a multi-day stay with the cab, call support. See the Mussoorie route page.
Tip: an Ertiga or Innova Crysta is more comfortable on the hill road with a full family and bags.
3. Dehradun — the easy green weekend
Distance: about 130 km, roughly 3 hours.
Two-day plan
- Day 1: Forest Research Institute in the morning, lunch on Rajpur Road, evening shopping at Paltan Bazaar near the Clock Tower.
- Day 2: Sahastradhara sulphur springs or Robber's Cave in the morning, Tapkeshwar temple, drive home after lunch.
Round-trip fare: about ₹2,340 (WagonR), ₹3,120 (Dzire), ₹4,160 (Ertiga), ₹5,200 (Innova Crysta). Read our Dehradun route guide.
